Remembering Ruth Cresson

Our dear dance friend, Ruth Cresson, died quietly after five days of hospice care on November 10th, aged 91. She retained her grace and beauty to the end. Emlen and Ruth met during a "Paul Jones" (a grand-chain-musical chairs to meet a new partner) during a square dance in the 1940s, and they kept dancing for 60+ years!--mostly contra, English country, Scottish country, and Colonial. We will always be grateful to Ruth and Emlen for hosting decades of potlucks and sings in their home, and for being the kind of people you could always expect to show up to every event, to appreciate every partner and every dance, to lend a hand, make lemon squares for Tea, and never to turn down a bowl of ice cream. We Philadelphia dancers were lucky to have Ruth with us for so long. It makes this farewell sad but also sweet.

A fueneral to which all are invited will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, 11:00 am, at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, PA.
